Acne, soap and water

It may be, especially if you tend you get hard, painful, deep seated spots, that there is no substitute for washing with water. However, that doesn’t mean you need to use harsh antibacterial cleansers. If you have sensitive skin, these will often dry and inflame your face.

Unperfumed facial wash

Personally, I think an antibacterial cleanser is overkill. Gentle but thorough washing is likely to give better results. Try a gentle, unperfumed facial wash such as the Simple or Clinique brands.

Flush out the pores

Splash your face repeatedly with plenty of warm water to open and flush out the pores, but don’t have the water too hot or you will do more harm than good.
